The International Police Association - the only independent professional organization of police

The International Police Association (IPA) - International Police Association (IPA) is the largest international non-governmental professional organization that brings together police officers from different countries of the world (both existing and those on pensions).

The initiator of the IPA was the British police sergeant Arthur Troup - after the Second World War, he was an active correspondence with colleagues from different regions of the world, the purpose of which was to exchange professional experience. Among his correspondents were police from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and some African countries.

The official date of establishment of the International Police Association said Jan. 1, 1950 - the day when it was officially announced the establishment of the United Kingdom of the British section of the International Police Association . The terms of members of the Association has grown steadily , and June 6, 1997 at 15 IPA World Congress , held in Quebec City (Canada), a member of the International Police Association has officially entered the National Section of Ukraine.

To date, the International Police Association includes more than 300,000 police officers from 64 countries . This is the biggest non-governmental organization , which is under the auspices of the Council of Europe , the Economic and Social Council of the UN , the only independent professional organization of police officers . Activities of the International Police Association knows no boundaries - it does not depend on the place of service , position , language, communication, race and religion , ideological views. IPA is not included in other groups and associations that are not subject to the political and trade union bodies of the Member States , cooperating with the police forces of any State which do not prevent the interaction of its police force with police forces of other countries and the open exchange of professional experience.

International Professional Commission of MPA accumulated vast theoretical and practical material on the history of the police and the changes in its structure , questions criminology and crime prevention, the dynamics of crime in different countries of the world, one of the most important activities of the IPA is to promote the use of new technologies and advances in police science and technology used in the investigation of crimes , and the publication of comparative data on the activities of the national sections of the Association. All this wealth of theoretical and practical IPA makes available to its members, which significantly expands the scope of their activities.
